Under the Weather
Feeling under the weather...sore throat and more...possibly from this weekend's festivities. No workouts on the last day of the year.

Sugarbowl on Sunday was the only resort on the north shore that had new snow so instead of Northstar, Neil, Max and I headed there. It was a great choice and we got in some fun runs. At the end we managed to hit a black diamond. Max is quick so no prob for him, he's Speedy Gonzalez. With my knee it was a chore getting down but still loads of fun. Neil was also quick. I couldn't stop laughing bcs it was too too fun even when my board hit rocks!
Winds whippin', lifts swayin', and face masks were donned. Max, Neil, cousin Ruthy, and niece Cohoe were at Mount Rose enjoying crappy wintry weather. It was grrreat!!!!! Only three lifts in operation but found a fun run with bumps and powder and it was so fun the first time around, second time I fell and my knee felt the brunt of it so was out of commission for an hour but was back up before the resort closed and managed to get in two runs. Woohoo!!! Bad weather whatever...it doesn't matter...being out there was too fun especially with good peeps.
Currently labeling entries on how long I last on an elliptical. Today, 30 minutes along with 10 min abs, 15 min back and tris. Leaving for Tahoe soon and hopefully hopefully I can board tomorrow. "Wishing and hoping and hoping and wishing" and I don't remember the rest of the song...
Jumped (more like wobbled) onto the elliptical and lasted 11 mins. Knee was fine afterwards. Another 30 minutes of abs and legs. Definitely an improvement from yesterday. I can see myself cycling soon.
Made it to the gym this evening and stuck around for an hour working on abs and upper body. No cardio because of knee but it's definitely getting better...able to get out of car with no pain, able to walk a little faster, get out of the tub, AND put my left sock on...yippee!!! That's improvement! I might be able to cycle next week and board this weekend. Hoping for the best...
Christmas with family. Usual gathering with attempts at caroling and karaoke. Plenty of food present. Mom wasn't feeling well but she somehow managed to cook enough for everyone present and more. Nieces and nephews helped and brought baked cookies with heads missing, big and tiny hearts, objects unknown. Too too beautiful.
Knee is painful when moved sideways. Up, down, forward and back is fine. No cycling, no boarding, no cardio, no nothing that'll impact my knee for the next few days, week, whatever it takes to heal...need to cycle and board soon. hahah!!! Can't wait to get back on board.
Spent Christmas eve with the Tiamzons and De Contreaus family in Woodland. Left Tahoe around 3:30, took 50 onto I-5, passed the exit so backtracked and finally got to their place around 6:30. Tons of food but focused on the classic spaghetti with the classic apple pie....DELICIOUS. Took photos and we had a blast changing poses throughout the shoots. I've known the family over 25 years and they always feel like home.
If limping were a workout then I would've worked out a full day. Knee is still out of comission. Iced it all night and downed Advil, enough to knock out the pain. Painful experience getting in and out of bed, same with car. What normally takes a few seconds extends to a couple minutes.
Left knee pain...pulled a muscle...severerly pulled a muscle. Snowboarding injury...dumb move on my part...now limping like a fool. Painful depending on how I move. Need to jump in the pool this week. Also concentrating on upper body, avoiding impact to the knee. Hopefully...crossing fingers and hoping for a miracle...I'll board this coming weekend. Woot Woot!!!
Chuck-e-Cheese time for Jason's 5th birthday. Relatives and friends were present along with pizza, buffalo wings, cheese sticks, tokens, and games games games... I love my nephew. He's a ham. He got this kid's camera and my sis tells me he gets his brothers to pose...too funny. Next photographer in the family.
Only an hour workout...combo of cardio and weights. Rushing through to get to Chuck-e-Cheese to celebrate Jason's 5th birthday and then driving off to Tahoe.
If there's one thing I love more than photography or at par with it, it's boarding...SNOWBOARDING...SNOWBOARDING!!!! hahahah... My favorite sport. I love it! And I'm off to the slopes. Yay!!!! YIPPEE!!! Solo drive, meeting up with friends on the south side. YOOHOO!!! Still packing this evening making sure I got everything. My board is still beat from last season's rocks. Passed by Sportsbasement this evening and bought glove liners, supposedly will keep your hands warm. I have this problem with the tips of my fingers freezing. It's not a good feeling. Wouldn't recommend it.
street cleaning...completely forgot. brought my bike out to ride but instead dropped it in the car and drove a block...no parking...drove two...still no parking...drove and drove and drove and finally found a spot far far from home...right next to dolores park. took out the bike and rode 15 min to downtown, freezing cold, numb fingers, coldest ride yet. fingers devoid of feeling. dropped bike off at best bike shop in town -- MIKE'S BIKES. picked up bike in the evening, cycled back to dolores, then drove home. total workout: two 15 min rides, one 10 min., 10 min abs, 10 min legs, and 30 min walk. supposedly day off but looks like i'm active.
Ride to work, 35 minutes. Weights, 50. Ride home, 40. A little tired. Slept at 11 but woke up at 4 to finish work. Five hours ain't enough. I died most of the day. Later I had dinner with Fides, her kids, Tricia and Kawayan. Lots of giggles and loud talking. Haven't seen Fides since our last performance. It was good chattin'-n-hangin'. Now I'm ready to crash...been a long day.
Six Laps around the southern end of Lake Merced with Duffy. Also planned on cycling but ran out of time and it was getting dark. Tomorrow I cycle, rain or shine
An hour and a half walk/run with Duffy through the Presidio. Ended up at Fort Point. Watched one surfer catch waves for 10 minutes...pretty cool. Another 20-30 minutes of weights and abs. Considered putting in another 30-60 at the gym in the evening but backed out and worked instead.
I'm cycling faster, 35 minute ride from home to downtown, five minutes less than usual, a combo of stronger legs, hitting a lot of greens, and running a few reds. Planned on lifting weights at the gym but left gym card at home so instead rode from downtown to Golden Gate Bridge and back. 50 minute ride. Rode home again this evening...again 5 minutes less. Cooked dinner and now I'm sleepy. Need to stretch.
Photographed the Serafinos at the beach with Tony and the chihuahuas. I've known the family close to 20 years. Love 'em and it was fun funny working together. They were sports because winds were whipping and it was really cold. Even the chihuahuas were shaking. Hard to get a really good shot with eyes closed and hair a mess but we worked it and got good images in the end.
